My story "Zig-Zag," about a kid on the cusp of his coming of age, finally got taken by a magazine. I'm more than usually happy about the publication, because this story, which I always believed in, got rejected about 32 times by various magazines over the past, what, decade and a half, at least!

Just goes to show that you must stick to the writing game, in the face of overwhelming negative energy and apathy. Over the years, the story got better gradually each time I revised it, and the failure taught me a lot about myself as a writer.

1. Don't give up.

2. Don't be unwilling to adapt.
